という古いポリンキーのCMのネタでスベってみましたが、結論からいうとセミコロンは文を切ることもあれば切らないこともあります。でもどちらかというと切ることのほうが多いですね。結構やっかいものです。
このように授業では；（セミコロン）：（コロン）ー（ダッシュ） -（ハイフン） など、かゆいところも教えています。
